Fluted Bowl Fried...

    The wood is Tulip Popular. Just cut down at the Neighbors. Guess they were attempting to keep the leaves out of their swimming  pool. A big slice makes two big halves of 18 inches for the diameter.  The lathe accepts one but requires some extra maneuvers just to fit it on. 
  Now tulip Popular is not a highly regards turning wood so the goal was to prove that this species is viable. The shavings filled a small dumpster full.

   Hand sanding to perfection with a bit of electrical enhancements



  
       After hollowing, with additional carving it was then attacked by the Lichtenberg process of enhancement  with high voltage. The end result is quite dramatic

      Now add a spalted maple blank turned and hollowed -making a Salt Pig......just set it on the counter in close proximity to the Chef.  Handy salt container makes for properly seasoned vittles. Chefs just love the easy accessibility of seasonings
