Kenai Lake, and Seward, to the Mat-Su Valley at Palmer AK
Lake Kenai is formed by the melting of the glaciers above. The Kenai River is turquoise blue. What a beautiful sight. We camped at a state campground, sat by the water edge and read until about 10:30 PM. Still light outside but we retired anyway.
Kenai Lake
Alaskan Humor?
Perhaps why we have not sighted more of these critters?
They've been neutered!
Some signs just don't make sense...
but then they may be in a Native language?
On toward Seward.....
The Exit Glacier
Shot with my telephoto lens.
Can you see the men just below the trees
on the flat below? Shows just how huge this beast is.
(We were still about 1/2 mile away)
A waterfall from the melting snows in downtown Seward
This town is a seaport for freight (forwarded by the Alaska Railroad)
and also a port for many cruise ships.
Just North of Seward. Lots of food for those moose
Drove on to Anchorage and started east to Palmer. A smaller town
in the Mat-Su Valley. Rich farmland tilled by lot of Norwegian farmers brought into the valley from the northern US starting in 1935 from Michigan,Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
They produce world record Cabbage and Vegetables.
