Monday -Fire, Hospital, Soldotna and Homer

Drove around the metropolis of Anchorage. Stopped at Dawn's bakery -something like a "Pie Spot" where she served us some strawberry-rhubarb pie and gluten free banana pudding with whip cream.
Thanks Louise Wyse for telling us  to stop by Dawn's place. She also had Ruthie -an Amish girl from Florida -working there. No wonder it was good!

Was advised to spy out the Alaska Native Hospital for the best artist offerings in the area. It is quite a display. At every elevator opening at every floor they had a terrific number of fine articles....better than in any of the museums around here according to the locals.

Soldotna has a Three Guys No Wood Gallery but alas they are closed on Mondays. Some very unique wood turnings could be seen thru the front window. Their very fierce terrier doggy just didn't seem to want to open up for us......wonder why?  Our faces are so honest.

Homer AK area. Arrived tonight , very nice drive, beautiful scenery with mountains and Bay.
Still have only seen one cow moose even though this species must the most advertised, ugliest, and least seen creature in Alaska according to my unprofessional personal opinion.   Signs all over Anchorage and down here on Homer advise "Moose on the Road" repeatedly however they must all have migrated elsewhere. Either that or the Tourism Industry has pulled a "Crooked Hillary" on us.

The area again was quite hazy with forest fire smoke. Happened to see a firefighting helicopter:

Wonder if that bucket holds perhaps two barrels of water?

Homer is sure nice. More residents than we expected after being in the Yukon and North of the Artic Circle.  Also saw lots of fishermen along a creek trying to assuage their hunger I guess.
