The 150 Milehouse (or Mile House)
Well, these go way back into Gold Rush days.  Yep, they were kind of like a stagecoach stop where folks rested, ate, and prepared for the next leg of the journey.

Tough travelling it was those days. Not for the faith at heart.
But it was driven by the desire for gold, riches, fame, etc.
Powerful forces made many advances and discoveries

Wagon teams, sometimes in later years they used caterpillar tractors during the winter
As noted earlier they wouldn't leave the particular Milehouse if it was more that 40 F below zero
Going South from Quesnel, BC thru Williams Lake and on....

Barley farming along Route 97, even Harvestore Silos and a dairy farm
Looks as if it about ready to harvest

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

70 Mile House Welcome

Seems as if the fish are larger than life in BC
Perhaps they have to fence them in so they don't get into the big rivers
My guess is that Yukon's slogan of "Larger Than Life" may have migrated south
to British Columbia

Seriously large

Driving South along 97 we have suddenly become captive in a canyon about 60 miles
or more today. The Thompson River Canyon became a much advertised attraction. It is the
biggest Whitewater destination in all of Canada.
The rapids are class 3- 5 and not to be taken lightly
One spot is called Hells Gate since it was so difficult to traverse way back in 1808. Explorer and gold seeker Simon Fraser described the gorge as "the gates of hell" after he and his men inched their way along the cliffs using rope ladders made by their aboriginal guides.
Lots of traffic on the river today. It is very rough and beautiful with steep canyon walls
BC is beautiful

After driving in the Alaska and the Yukon, down the remote Cassiar Highway we drove through this Thompson River Canyon... later joined by the Fraser River we had the surprise of our life.
Suddenly we were thrown in with the Trans-Canadian Highway #1 .....Four Lanes highway turning into areas of beautiful farming with corn and fruit farms. Now we approach the far reaches of Victoria and Vancouver BC. Traffic, traffic and more traffic. Makes us go into culture shock. Oh MY!

Chilliwack, BC is a modern metropolis just north of the US/Canadian Border

We are no longer enjoying the wild and wonderful hinterlands of Yukon and British Columbia
