SC Championship Old Time Fiddling

Pickens SC,  the home of the S.C. Old Time Fiddling Championship. Lots of families, kids all over with kettle popcorn, homemade ice cream. The place was just plain full. Bring your own chairs, have a picnic, see the artifacts at the Hagood Mill.

Miss Lillie Rodgers, with an Italian  -Nicolo Armadi  dating back to 1680
Armadi was pre-Stardivari making one of the finest instruments in Europe

Young lad fiddling with sister pickin
A number of other youngsters from age 7-12 with amazing presentations

This young lad with his father did several Jewish tunes. It brought the audience
in with clapping like those nice dances always do.

Shea picked very fine tunes

Lots of Indian artifacts: Arrow heads, petroglyphs, and artisans working their crafts

What a nice place to visit and be reminded of the many years of history on the Eastern seaboard.
One must appreciate the hundreds of years the area has been inhabited by some very resourceful Native American peoples.
Not that far from Waxhaw either. We needed an overnight away. One would think we would have had enough travels lately however we extended our sabbatical two more to take in this very inspiring event. I guess they have a music event the second Saturday of each month.

Thanks to the folks at Hagood Mill Music in the Mountains Series  for a wonderful presentation!
Pickens ,SC was the place to be today
